The education department, under the direction of the Vice President, with consultation by the Education Committee, and approval by the Village Card Club (VCC) Board of Directors (Board), shall recruit new students via available media, teach the Board approved subject matter to these same students with the best available teachers, and ensure the proper flow of students from class to class. The objective is to ensure the vitality of the VCC by adding new members through the continuing VCC education process, and to introduce the general participants into the wonderful world of bridge and the pleasures of the Duplicate Method.
Education for those interested existing VCC members shall be provided via seminars and ad hoc classes taught by teachers and master players with the objective being additional knowledge to allow Restricted game players to gain confidence and pleasure in success, and to advance to the Open game.
This statement acknowledges the salient fact that the VCC has a continued loss of members due to one factor or another, and the Education Department is the primary method of replenishing these losses.
Village Card Club Teaching Program
A teaching program was started in 1985. In the Fall & Winter of each year, five levels of bridge are taught using the ACBL Audrey Grant Series: Bidding, Defense, Play of the Hand, Beginning Conventions, and Intermediate Conventions. Several advanced classes are offered as well. All Audrey Grant instruction is provided by certified, ACBL instructors.
The Village Card Club will offers classes in the Winter and Fall. Please check this website for details and for dates and on-line registration. For additional information, please contact the Vice President, who is also the Director of Education.
