Motion: To create a Thomas E. Kasten Memorial Scholarship Fund as follows.
Purpose: Granting of Village Card Club (VCC) Education Class or Classes scholarships to those applicants who apply to the VCC Board of Directors (Board), or are brought to the attention of the board by VCC members.
Qualifications: Applicants or nominees should be interested in bridge,and would find it a hardship to pay the tuition and textbook costs. Consideration should be given to everyone, considering young people, who should be recruited, as the future of the game relies on that youthful participation. The Board should strive, thru the VCC membership, to allocate at least two scholarships a year. The Education Director and committee will screen the applicants and make the choice, bringing it to the board for final approval.
Funding: Initial funds will be the $150.00 donation of Mrs. Mary Kasten, in memory of her husband, Tom. Further donations will be accepted into the fund by check written to the VCC and endorsed to the Thomas E. Kasten fund and given to any board member. The board member will report the donation to the board, and turn the check over to Treasurer. Funds will be kept in the general account, but accounted for separately, including any interest or dividends it may earn.
