Announcements

Attention 299ers !!

At the upcoming Hot Springs Regional, May 14-20 we will have a newcomer/299er welcome desk with multiple handouts, cash prizes for 299ers winners including pair game section tops, lowest bracket in KO’s, and Swiss. Also, we will have a Tuesday night ice cream social just for you, hosted by some of your favorite teachers, directors and bridge celebrities.

There is a huge new opportunity to earn gold points with a new and immensely popular Strati-flighted gold point pair game where 0-750 masterpoint players play only each other. This game was designed for the purpose of awarding gold points to players who want and need them, but don’t like the idea of competing against the pros to get them.

Here is how 299ers can win Gold points:

In general, Gold Points are awarded for overall placing in regional events of at least two sessions. All single session events and 299er only events do not offer Gold points.

Strati-flighted “Gold Point” Pairs: The B level (300-750) will award Gold for overall rankings and section tops. The C level, 0-300,  is red points only unless if C places overall in B then they get Gold as well. New for our regional this year!

Swiss: Strati-flighted Swiss teams, the top two strats award Gold. Open Swiss teams pay Gold for all overalls.

Knockouts: In all knockout team events, each bracket overall ranking will award some percentage of the overall award as Gold, irrespective of the masterpoint holding of the teams in that bracket.

Hope to see you there!!

Welcome to the Village Card Club

The Village Card Club was formed on March 1, 1985, originally as an umbrella group for all card clubs in Hot Springs Village. However, this did not come to pass, and the Village Card Club has since operated exclusively as a bridge club. We are the largest such club in Arkansas, with approximately 800 members.

The Village Card Club offers a variety of card playing experiences for its members and guests, such as duplicate bridge games sanctioned by the American Contract Bridge League (ACBL), ACBL sanctioned tournaments and special events, non-sanctioned duplicate and rubber bridge games, and extensive instructional and educational programs.

Thank you for visiting our website, and please visit us at Casa de Carta, Hot Springs Village, Arkansas.

Partnerships for Resort City Regional

Traditionally at ACBL Tournaments, both local and out-of-town players can count on finding partners in their skill level at the Partnership Desk.  Sometimes partnerships are established for a single game; sometimes they work out so well that they decide to play in subsequent events.  In all cases, though, the Partnership Desk needs to know (1) who needs a partner, (2) who would like to play – or (3) who would be willing to play – but doesn’t have a partner.

Please don’t sit at home wishing you were playing bridge!  E-mail Andy Cosby, our Partnership Chair, and tell him when you are available.
