THE VILLAGE CARD CLUB
SEMI ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING
December 10, 2009
The meeting was called to order by President Dick Condon at 12:31 P.M.
AGENDA APPROVAL: Teri LaBove moved that the agenda be approved as amended. This was seconded and passed.
PREVIOUS SEMI-ANNUAL MINUTES: Andy Cosby moved to accept the previous minutes, seconded and approved.
PRESIDENT’S STATE OF THE CLUB REPORT: Dick Condon reported the success of the club’s first 299’er tournament held this year. Betty Schultz and Andy Cosby will be the coordinators for next year’s tournament.
The Sectional tournament will be held March 26, 27, and 28. Estelle White will be the coordinator.
The DeGray tournament was another big success. Teri LaBove was the coordinator.
DIRECTORS REPORTS: Nancy Luehring asked that members get their membership dues in by December 31 if they want their name in the directory. She also stated that the next book will have larger print.
Alicia Fetters reported a total of 9,174 tables through November. If the club can get 826 tables in December we will reach 10,000 tables, a record high.
Cathy Irving reported that the EasyBridge! players have been doing well, with some “graduating” into the regular games. A new group could possibly start in January.
Sheila Cosby reported a successful year for tournaments. The Sectional netted of $7,000 and the 299’er cleared $3,600.
OLD BUSINESS: The club lost 10 members this year. A one minute of silence was observed in memoriam.
Katy Harris submitted a report on the Rose Memorial. There is a balance of $790.79 in the fund. At least three plants will have to be replaced this spring. Lillian Estes is resigning her position as co-chair. Wally Johnson will take over that position.
NEW BUSINESS: The club has acquired three new machines in the past year. The dealing machine has been in use for a few weeks now. Gene LaBove has offered to show and explain the machine to anyone interested.
The Bridge Pads have been in use on the smaller side for about two weeks. Once the second server is installed they will be used in the big room also.
Jerry and Cathy Bertrand donated a copy machine which is up and running.
Dick Condon thanked the election committee and the nominating committee for their good work.
Dick thanked the 2009 Board and welcomed the 2010 Board.
