VILLAGE CARD CLUB
BOARD OF DIRECTORS MEETING
APRIL 8, 2005
President Kathy Harris called the meeting to order at 2:15 P.M.

The Agenda was unanimously approved by the Board.
Minutes of the March Board Meeting were approved as posted.
Correspondence:
Letter from Jane Zambell thanking tournament chairs and volunteers for such an
outstanding tournament.
A vote was taken by phone of all Board members on disallowing certain conventions and
treatments as posted in various parts of the Club and it passed unanimously.
REPORTS:
Player Development – Marcy attended monthly Newcomers Coffee. She recently had a
member buy free plays as a birthday gift for a friend. This is a great idea and is
something all bridge players would appreciate.
Vice-President – Dick announced that he plans to take VCC brochures to the Board of
Realtors to be passed out to all newcomers.
Member-at-Large – Marilyn reported that Life Master pictures, 20th Anniversary article,
and Ann Cosgrove’s picture and article have been in Village Voice. The Newsletter
is on the website and it has had 79 hits. Marilyn reported 423 ½ tables played in the
Sectional with 13 states represented. $1,000 was collected for Teen Challenge Caddies.
Game Manager – Andy said he felt the “chalk talks” were going well in lower strata, not so
well in open. The 2 strata-flighted swiss team games were to be on a 60 day trial period.
Purchasing Agent – Bill reported that supplies are in good shape. He will order convention card
holders.
Club Manager – In Richard’s absence Kathy advised the Board that we have received an
upgraded Club Championship Game which will be held April 28, 2005.
OLD BUSINESS:
Kathy reported that Standing Rules are up to date on website and posted on bulletin
boards.
There will be 4 more weeks of strata-flighted games on Thursday. After this time it will be
decided whether or not it is in the best interest of the Club to continue.
Teri LaBove moved that we continue strata-flighted swiss team games on 1st and 3rd
Sundays. Dick Condon seconded and all approved.
NEW BUSINESS:
Andy presented the Board with Game Plans for 2005-2006. Members were asked to take
proposed plans home, study them and be ready to discuss said plans at next meeting.
Marilyn Biegler and Connie Fitch have agreed to chair the 2006 Sectional Tournament.
Members praised them for a great job. Out-of-towners were amazed at the wonderful
hospitality. Marilyn praised volunteers and committee members for their hard work.
Kathy reported that roses are planted and being watered. Jane Zambell and Kathy
will select a plaque on which names of memorial recipients will be placed. The Memorial
Fund has a balance of $587.26 and contributions are still being received.
Marcy moved to adjourn, seconded by Marilyn and unanimously approved.
