Per the Bylaws of the Village Card Club: “The Nominating Committee shall consist of three members. It shall be the responsibility of this committee to prepare a slate of candidates for the elected Officers and the Board of Directors and to follow procedures as stated in Article VII.” Any items not covered specifically in the bylaws are covered in Roberts Rules which the bylaws state is to be followed if not superseded in the bylaws.
The President shall appoint one or two members to the Committee who have served in VCC leadership capacities in the past and know many members of the club. He/She should also appoint an active novice/intermediate player who knows many members who play in the novice/intermediate games.
The Nominating Committee shall interview all candidates who indicate a desire to be placed on the election slate. All members of the Nominating Committee should review the Job Description of every open position before interviewing candidates.
The Nominating Committee’s primary goal during the interview process is to select the best possible candidates for each open Board position. Qualified candidates must:
The Bylaws provide a way for other interested candidates to be placed on the ballot regardless of their qualifications.
After the nominating committee has put together their slate, any person who wishes to run for a board position off the slate should submit a letter of intent to the Nominating Committee chair and attach a bio to be posted. This bio is to state their qualifications, past experience and why they wish to run for the board position. It will not contain any political or electioneering statements. The responsibility of the nominating committee is to ensure the bio meets the guidelines and that it is posted. If photographs are posted with the nominating committee’s slate, these persons are also invited to include a photograph with their bio submission.
