Standing Rules - Education Program with Regard to Teachers
PURPOSE: To set fees and procedures for those who want to teach bridge
within the Village Card Club using the ACBL Education Program.

COURSE TUITION:
$40.00 per student for 8-week ACBL Bridge Series courses
$20.00 per text for “Bidding in the 21st Century”
$15.00 per text for other ACBL texts
$25.00 per student for 8-hour Learn & Play class ($7 for single session)
$10.00 per student per 2-hour session for non-ACBL offerings
- Only ACBL Accredited teachers, if available, will be allowed to teach the Audrey Grant Series, i.e. Club, Diamond, Heart, Spade and More Commonly Used Convention classes. The approval of the VP/Education Director is required for non-ACBL series lesson and courses to be taught and by whom.
- All ACBL Accredited teachers who are members of the Village Card Club are considered to be potential members of the Village Card Club Teaching Staff and are encouraged to apply to the VP/Education Director for addition to the Teaching Staff.
- The Village Card Club will pay the Teacher Accredition Program fees for those candidates selected by the Director of Education and approved by the Board of Directors who complete the course and submit an invoice and copy of certification. In exchange, the successful candidates will make themselves available to teach when called upon for a period of three years from the date of the first series of classes after accredition completion.
- Teachers are to assist in recruitment of students for Village Card Club classes only.
- All books shall be ordered through a Star Teacher and kept in a locked cabinet.
All teachers shall check books out through the Vice President/Education Director,
who shall maintain an inventory list.
- Instructors, who desire to conduct classes at the Village Card Club which are not within the Club's teaching program, shall direct their wishes to the Vice President/Educator Director, who will review the proposed class for fit within the VCC total education program, consistency of content with other VCC classes, and non conflicting use of the Casa de Carta facilities. Student fees and Instructor fees will be consistent with VCC Standing Rules, Education Program with Regard to Teachers.
- An Instructor teaching approved classes (see Item 4) not within the Club's teaching program, and at the Casa de Carta, shall collect the fees, turn them over to the Vice President/Education Director, submit an invoice for his services as outlined above, and be paid through the VCC treasury. In turn, the VCC facilities and supplies may be used free of charge for that specific approved course.

When a class reaches five full tables, the Vice President can authorize and approve a helper for $90.00
A teacher for the Learn and Play Classes will receive $20.00 per hour for completed 2 hour sessions, or $150.00 for the full four sessions.

- An attendance record shall be kept by each instructor and forwarded to the
Vice President/ Education Director at the conclusion of the class.
- If a student misses over half the classes in any session, they are entitled
to repeat the class, free of charge. Otherwise, they can make up specific lessons
free of charge.
- After each 8 week session of lessons, 2-4 weeks of Supervised Play may be
offered and the teacher will receive $25 per session. If the class reaches
five tables or more, a teacher can hire a helper for $10.00 per session.
- Students will pay $2.50 per person per session for Supervised Play and Bridge
Plus.
- Two accredited teachers will be responsible for Bridge Plus. They will
conduct a mini-lesson before the game begins, will assist with questions during
the game, will collect the fees, enter the scores on the computer and will
assist in recruiting new players to play in Bridge Plus. He/she will each receive
a flat fee of $23.00.
- If the Vice President is an ACBL accredited teacher, he/she must obtain
Board approval to teach a class during his/her term as Vice President.
- Candidates for the Education Committee must have a passion for Bridge Education. Generally, ideal candidates would be from a group that includes past VCC VPs of Education or Presidents, bridge teachers, or Educators. Long term tenure on the committee is encouraged. Committee members should be the preferred group looked at by the Nominating Committee when recommending future VPs to the Board.
