Job Description
VICE PRESIDENT
Per the Village Card Club, Inc. By-Laws, Article 4, Section 2, the Vice President shall:
A. Fill the chair in the absence of the President and conduct the business of the Club.
B. Assume the office of President in the event the President is unable to serve the full elected term.
C. Be responsible for organizing and coordinating the educational programs of the Club, using the ACBL approved educational series.
Under Article 4, Section 2C above, including but not limited to the following.
1. Determine which classes, how many times per year, and when each class will be offered. Clear schedule with Club Manager to avoid conflicts.
2. Contact and schedule a teacher for each class. Verify by e-mail the class and teacher schedule with the teachers.
3. Type schedule in flyer form for distribution. Print 200 copies.
4. When orientation and class schedules are set for a given session, notify the Club Manager and/or Web Master so it can be posted on the VCC website.
5. Maintain an inventory of textbooks. Order texts as needed in the best quantity price relationship.
6. Schedule a classroom for each class. Consult with the Game Manager and the Club Manager over the year to avoid scheduling conflicts, especially when new games or groups are brought into the picture.
7. Schedule orientation, usually the Tuesday morning, one week prior to beginning of classes. Notify the Ouachita Center Director of the need for tables. Arrange for coffee (VCC provided, but possibly purchased by VP and reimbursed), refreshments (same as coffee), some nut & fruit breads by members, and volunteers to help with sign up and answer questions.
8. Organize and direct publicity for orientation and lessons. Publicity should include flyers, newspaper articles (Village Voice for sure, and possibly Hot Springs Sentinel), and announcements. Publicity could also include radio and posters. Flyers should be amply distributed at all games at VCC, and at the POA offices. Commercial outlets are another possibility.
9. Provide teacher evaluation forms one week prior to end of the class period. Evaluate the teacher performance using the results of the student completed evaluation forms. A slotted box could be provided for the depositing of the forms to insure students’ true evaluations.
10. Instruct teachers to actively promote the next class in the series.
11. Organize Learn and Play sessions toward the end of regular class sessions to keep the students involved and to ease them into the Duplicate Method of play and Bridge Plus.
12. Recruit new teachers.
13. Organize various classes for those VCC members wishing to continue learning conventions and the finer points of bidding, play, and defense.
14. Be familiar with the Standing Rules, Education Program with Regard to Teachers, which defines teacher (and helper) pay, charges for lessons and books, and other procedures and details.
15. Consult with and chair the Education Committee as necessary.
16. Present a summary of revenues and expenses to the VCC Treasurer each teaching session.
17. All efforts should be directed for the benefit of the VCC only.
