Job Description
PLAYER DEVELOPMENT
The player development director shall:
- Conduct formal (written) and informal (verbal) questionnaires of the novice/intermediate players to determine their bridge needs, interests, and concerns.
- Determine what is necessary to keep students interested in playing at the VCC and bring suggestions to the board.
- Act as liaison between novice/intermediate players, the game directors of Bridge Plus, Novice and intermediate games, and the VCC board to convey to and ensure consideration of the needs, interests and concerns of the lower strata players.
- Recommend to the Board and game directors policies and programs to ensure the continued development of the novice/intermediate players.
- Each month compare the monthly list of players’ master points compiled by the club manager with the previous months list to determine the players reaching 5, 20, 50 or 100 master points(or club points if not a member of ACBL).
- Announce at the novice/intermediate games at the beginning of the month the names of players receiving free play coupons. (mail free play coupons to those who earned but did not receive their free play coupon at the club).
- Determine the monthly Player of the Month for each of the four levels, Open , 0-1000, 0-300 and 0-20 and announce their names at the beginning of the month.
- Announce the names of other award winners (such as new life masters, bronze, silver, gold, etc.) as you obtain that information.
- Post on the bulletin boards at the time you announce them to the club, the names of the players receiving free plays for points earned, the players of the month, new life masters etc.
- Attend the Newcomers’ coffee the last Thursday of each month to present a two-minute overview of the VCC, and invite newcomers to visit during any game.
