Job Description
CLUB MANAGER
Primary Responsibilities:
Report to the President in regards to administrative management of day-to-day club operations.
Work with the board of Directors to recruit the best personnel for Game Directors, Game Clerks, etc. Hire, train, and evaluate salaried personnel.
Be accountable to ACBL for the enforcement of ACBL rules and regulations in all sanctioned games conducted by the club.
Responsible for timing issues after the annual calendar is approved by the Board, including the monthly schedule. New games and annual calendar changes must be presented to the Board for approval.
Routine:
Evaluate and implement game director requirements for games.
Submit monthly Club Financial and Masterpoint reports to ACBL. In doing so, review all games to ensure there are no errors, i.e.: Player ACBL numbers are correct; Game classifications are correct; Cancelled games are identified.
Each month post the masterpoints awarded during the previous month.
After the monthly update of the Club ACBL database (about the 6th of the month), post the total masterpoints of ACBL members.
Ensure that the most current copy of ACBLscore is installed on the computers.
Post monthly schedule and anticipated special events on Club bulletin board and maintain the bulletin board.
Correspond with ACBL, district and unit as needed, on all matters relevant to VCC and special games.
Submit to the manager of Ponce de Leon Center the anticipated VCC usage of Casa de Carta building for coming month, as specified by the lease.
Maintain frequent and clear communications with Purchasing Manager to ensure smooth operation of scheduled games and special Club events
Give player data base information each month to player development director to initiate appropriate congratulatory action (free plays, letters, etc.)
Ensure that club master point certificates are issued to non-ACBL members.
Apply for sanction renewals yearly, and process any sanction changes as requested by the Board of Directors.
Educate and assist, as needed, Game Directors on proper operation of the computer, software, and printer.
Be responsible for securing playing facilities and/or improving playing conditions for Club sponsored games.
Inform the President of the annual winner of the Sally Blevins Trophy.
Select director for special events, after consulting with game manager.
Change the first letter of the ACBL player number when a player achieves Life Master status.
Keep several copies of the current game schedule available in the file holder near the door.
