EASYBRIDGE! 2
Easybridge! 2 is for people who have completed Easybridge! 1 or the ACBL Club and Diamond classes -- or have played a little duplicate bridge before -- and want to broaden their skills while having a great time.
At each Easybridge! 2 game, you pause to help yourself at a table filled with goodies on your way to your bridge table. (Most players bring a "munchie" about once a month, so there is always a selection. Recipes are usually available.)
You can come with a partner or not. Sometimes, you will play with that partner, often with another nice person. There are always folks looking for partners, so don't worry about coming alone. Over time, our objective is for everyone to develop a number of partnerships, rather than playing with the same person all the time.
Easybridge! is based on experiential learning. You learn from and while playing the game. Each game begins with a short presentation that expands on what you learned from your Easybridge! 2 textbook. Since each mini-lesson -- and each textbook chapter --stands alone, if you miss a week or so, you are not "behind."
Saturday's Easybridge! 2 game is open to all players with fewer than 20 masterpoints. Game time is 8:30-12:15. Rumor has it that Easybridge! 2 is more serious than Easybridge! 1. Not true! You know a little more about playing bridge, but you are still here to learn and to have fun. While you're not likely to see a player show his hand to an opponent and ask how to bid it, you will see a table with all four hands face up after the play as everyone tries to analyze how the bidding or play should have gone. While, in Easybridge! 1, you might have asked a staff member for advice before making a call or play, you're now making fewer mistakes and are in a better position to learn from a misjudgment rather than asking for help in order to avoid it.
While most of our Saturday games are "duplicate bridge," we include sessions of "party bridge" and team games; and you learn how to plan a very nice 2-table bridge game at home.
Incidentally, while most bridge "classes" are x-number of weeks long, Easybridge! goes on and on! Easybridge! 1 was 15+ weeks long. Easybridge! 2 is 10+ weeks long. After that come 10+ weeks of Easybridge! 3. And, guess what? It never ends. You just learn more and more, play more and more, and meet more and more nice partners and opponents.
There is an Easybridge! 2 game going on right now (Saturday mornings 8:30-12:15). If you already know a little bit about bridge, come join the fun! If you have any questions, contact Cathy Irving (922-3715) or Andy Cosby (915-9827).
